Parcel 104 – 10/03/08

Parcel 104 is a somewhat fancy restaurant in a much less fancy hotel (a suburban Marriott). We wanted to taste pastry chef Carlos Sanchez’s creations so we made our way over about 8:30 (for some crazy reason, the restaurant closes at 9:00pm on a Friday!).

They took one look at us and decided we would be seated in the lounge rather than in the dining room. Whether it was Maya or our (or I should say: my) raggedy clothes, who knows but the truth is we don’t mind getting seated in the lounge or away from the crowd as we know not everyone wants to sit by a 1 year old, even one as cute as Maya.

The lounge was empty so we were free to enjoy ourselves. We ordered tea.

I ordered the quince plate which included a delicious cobbler and a banana with some carmelized sugar. It had a few other small items but the cobbler was the highlight of the evening.

Service was a little lacking, probably because we were sitting by ourselves in the empty lounge. We asked for some more raw sugar for our tea and it never came. I finally went digging through the sugar trays of the tables around us for find some.
